An adorable, furry-friendly gacha that mixes Angry Birds with auto-battler RPG gameplay

I went into the closed beta test for Kemono Friends: Kingdom knowing basically nothing about this franchise beyond the fact that there has been at least one previous mobile game and a semi-popular anime series. So if you're a hardcore fan, know that my opinion is based solely on the little bit I've played of this latest mobile game in the series and nothing else.
That said, that little bit I've played is pretty dang fun! Kemono Friends takes place in a world where animals have been transformed into anime waifus, who in turn are at war with a more aggressive breed of mutated creature called "Ceruleans." I took on the role of a newcomer to this strange world who had amnesia but was able to help out in the fight against the Ceruleans.

In gameplay , that meant launching the anthropomorphized girls I was teaming up with into battle on a paper airplane. Basically, I entered battles with a set party of four, like many other gacha RPGs, but each of those party entered the fight via me launching them with my finger, sort of like Angry Birds. Once my party had landed by the Cerulean we were fighting, they would engage in auto-battling, though I was able to offer input on when certain special abilities should be used.
While Kemono Friends: Kingdom didn't blow me away, it's also far from the worst gacha I've played even in the last six months. The writing is sharp and often funny, the character designs are memorable (if a little too fan service-y for my personal preference), and the strange Angry Birds twist helps set it apart just enough from the legions of other auto-battler mobile gacha games. I'll definitely check it out more in depth when the full global launch happens.
