Sonic the Hedgehog has a fresh new look in his latest 2D adventure - and he's brought some friends

Sonic games can be hit or miss, but we'd say the titles have a much higher hit rate. That's why we were so happy to hear that everyone's favorite superfast blue hedgehog is returning to his roots in Sonic Superstars.
While this latest Sonic the Hedgehog adventure is in 2D, that doesn't mean it looks like a Genesis game. Superstars has a nice new art style that's more modern and flashy, and if the above trailer is anything to go off of, it looks like it's full of surprises as well.

Beyond the speedy platforming that Sonic is known for, Sonic Superstars focuses more on co-op gameplay, with up to four players taking on the role of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose. It looks like those characters will learn a bunch of new powers as they go as well, including the ability to climb up waterfalls and even change into different forms.
If you want to collect the Chaos Emeralds for yourself, you can check out Sonic Superstars when it launches October 16, 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S. The game will sell for $59.99, or you can pick up the "Sonic Superstars Deluxe Edition featuring Lego" which will include special Lego-themed character skins, an art book, a soundtrack, and some bonuses for the new competitive multiplayer Battle Mode.
