DanMachi - MEMORIA FREESE: Good Gacha Rates Mean Less Salt And More Fun
Translate
At first look, DanMachi - MEMORIA FREESE looks just like any anime-based mobile RPG with gacha elements. However, as I progressed, I found myself hooked and honestly having fun.

The Good:
The story mode basically retells the events of the anime, along with a few additions and omissions. It's a great way to grind out your characters, as well as farm materials. Progressing through the story mode is also needed to unlock certain events and missions, as well as features. And honestly, unlike most anime-based mobile games, progressing doesn't really feel like a chore.

Then there's the battle system where Bell and his party progress through a series of battles. Like most games of its genre, players can go full auto or progress manually, like an idle game. I like this idle game aspect because it lets me just leave it on auto and do other stuff like chores or watching anime. And by the time I am done with those things, my party has already cleared the mission. And I find this game's system much more convenient for idle play than many of the other mobile RPGs out there.

But what sets this game apart is its higher-than-usual gacha rates. I found myself pulling some very rare characters around 40% of the time for every roll I do. Memoria Freese only goes up to 4 stars, and I have already gotten a lot of them since starting earlier this month.

And completing certain missions and events also grant you specific 4-star characters, as well as tickets for a 100% guaranteed 4-star character. So yeah, a small chunk of all the 4-star characters I own are from these tickets or from clearing event missions.

I have always been salty with gacha games, but here, I found less salt as I am always rewarded with rare and powerful characters. Heck, I have even drawn the character I wanted to have, a 4-star yukata version of Ais, twice already.
Ais Wars
And this is neither good nor bad, but just wanna add that this game also has a weird Alien Invaders-like mini game called Ais Wars. It was kinda fun, but I found myself not playing it after the first few games because I was more into the main missions that this weird side game.

The Bad

When I first got the game, it took forever to , arguably one of the longest s I had for a mobile game. It also takes a lot of space and suffers from lag every now and then.
And while the gacha rates are high, it's easy to get overpowered rather quickly. Simply put, having three 4-star characters in the early missions feel more like an overkill. I actually breezed through those early story missions without damage because of my 4-star characters. But while that is a downer, it does not make the game boring in hindsight. I found myself struggling with the event missions as the game went on.
Overall

Higher-than-usual gacha rates make this game stand out for me, and the fact that it did not grow stale as I progressed was just wonderful. It is still not a perfect game, as loading takes forever and sometimes, it's a bit too easy with a roster of overpowered characters curbstomping anything in their path. However, I genuinely had fun with this and I feel that all its faults are just nitpicking. A truly good game to say the least, and one of the best anime-based gacha RPG out there.
