TOKKI

Too hard, not even a metroidvania, no power ups, no upgrades, rewind power is useless, when you die you can't rewind, repetitive levels, levels get harder, no rewards, nothing new, no new mechanics. Music is good tho.

I’m enjoying Tokki as it is a cool,  old-school platformer that reminds of the games that came on Nintendo’s Game & Watch units. Tight, responsive controls make the world go ‘round (or up, down, left, right in this case) in an experience like this, and Tokki definitely has pinpoint controls...so if/when I die, I know it's my own damn fault. The controls are paramount because this challenging platformer will keep you busy for several hours with its simple objective: grab all the gems and reach the exit. Even though you can bust out the standard moves, the double-jump, dash, and rewind, you're still probably going to die. A lot. Stages are filled with enemies that respawn after a few seconds which is annoying (but I got used to it) and spikes that can be hard to spot in this surprisingly detailed 1-bit, black and white world.

Tokki is one of those games that took me by surprise, on the outside it just looks like a retro style platformer, but it's more than that, it's amusing and the jumps can be really challenging. I had so much playing this and I was surprised I never got mad at the amount of times I died. This game was just so much fun, it was hard to put it down. I did use a controller though because it seemed like it would be better to use it with it. And it ran very well while using the controller. I'm sure you can play this without as well. Just make sure you have a lot of patience hehe.

Tokki is a fantastic game that shows that a game can still be a challenging without it being annoying. I don’t think I ever got annoyed while playing Tokki. Instead this game made me laugh and push myself to keep going and honestly I felt like I lost track of the time while playing it. Gameplay wise this game is pretty simple. Press A to jump, long press A to jump higher, B will make you dash and double tapping A will make you double jump. Y will show you the direction of where gems are and X is a rewind feature that I never figured out how to use properly. The game itself is a platformer that is really, really challenging. Like totally unforgiving. When you die, you will also start back at the beginning of that level, with the red marker of your character taunting you where you last died. The aim of the game is simple too, collect the total amount of gems before moving on. And do so without dying if possible. Though I think there are some parts that do require you to die a couple times to retrace your steps and go different ways. And that's the game in a nutshell. Its such simple game but oh my goodness is it gonna push you to your limits.

The game looks simple with double jump and dash to get all the gems, however  , you may still die a lot in the process, it will let you dive in for a few hours easily. I think for a lot of players who love about retro games, it can be really addictive, and personally I don't feel it is annoying even though I die a lot.

This game only took 2 minutes to make me tired, especially my hands. Behind the beautiful 1 bit pixel art, it's actually very hardcore. Each level is a challenge to my control. There is no save point, yes, as soon as you die you will immediately return to the place where the level started. Oh thank goodness, at least it's not sending me back to the first level lol. Double Jump, Dash, Dash Jump, Dash Attack, even Rewind. There're so many possibilities to show my in-game abilities. Rewind is my favourite skill. I'm like the Tracer from Overwatch! I need to take a break and then continue my challenge.

It's so fun! I recommend this game to everyone!!! You could control TOKKI to help him collect all gems in the level and fill the treasure chest to proceed to the next level. Although it only has 30 levels, but before I knew it I had played for three hours.I could combine all game mechanics and abilities to achieve TOKKI's goals.
