VoC: The Beasts of Burden

RPG
SQUARE ENIX Co.,Ltd.
MoreVoice of Cards, a series inspired by tabletop RPGs and gamebooks told entirely through a medium of cards, is now available for smartphones! Enjoy a truly unique gaming experience from the minds of YOKO TARO, Keiichi Okabe, and Kimihiko Fujisaka, developers of the NieR and Drakengard series. ■Gameplay Just like during a tabletop RPG, you're guided through the story by the game master as you journey through a world where all the field, town, and dungeon maps are depicted as cards. At times, the outcome of events and battles may be determined by a roll of the dice... In Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden, you can seal defeated monsters in cards and summon them during battle as monster cards. Monster cards are ranked up to 5 stars, and as you progress through the story and move to new areas, you’ll be able to get higher-ranked cards. ■Story In this world, there are creatures known as monsters. Humans have long been in conflict with these beasts. One day, a secure underground village is destroyed by monsters, and a girl loses her home. A young boy appears before her amid the chaos and takes her hand, leading her above ground for the first time. Having lost everything, the girl sets out on a journey with the boy, where she learns about the world and goes on to obtain something precious... *Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars Chapter 0, Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars, Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden, and Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden can be enjoyed as standalone adventures. *This app is a one-time purchase. Once ed, the entirety of the game can be enjoyed without purchasing additional content. Cosmetic in-game purchases, such as changes to the aesthetic of cards and pieces or the BGM, are available. *You may find that the gamemaster occasionally stumbles, corrects themselves or needs to clear their throat, in order to give you the most immersive and true to life Tabletop RPG experience. [Recommended model] AndroidOS: 7.0 or higher RAM: 3 GB or more U: Snapdragon 835 or higher *Some models may not be compatible. *Some terminals may not work even with the above version or higher.

I somehow lost in the game, but I actually had fun!

It's my first attempt at playing VoC and I honestly don't have a clue how to play it! I was just curious about it since my friends started playing it too. Most of my cards always consume points from enemies. I guess I'm winning now right? *sigh*

VoC: The Beasts of Burden -An AMAZING Third Game in the Series!

VOC: The Beasts of Burden is the third chapter in the Voice of Cards series. And I got to say. I really... REALLY enjoyed this one more than the other two. Gameplay wise unfortunately the game plays a lot like the other 2 previous games. However, there is some actual differences this time around, just enough to give it a bit of a fresher feel. For one, there is a female protagonist for once. And the people in the starting town are all new character models which is also nice for a change.

Voice of Cards again, with monster catching mechanics | Review: Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden

Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden is the third entry in the Voice of Cards trilogy — a series of narratively-driven table-top RPG card games. But if you’re coming into this review without having played the first two games, don’t leave just yet, as Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden is another standalone title that you can start the trilogy with, just all set in the same world. They all came out at the same time for both iOS and Android which might make it confusing for newcomers, but you can play them in any specific order.

Well, the vibe is different from VoC: the forsaken maiden

I honestly liked the Japanese voiceover from the other VoC games. This one is mostly focused on gameplay; it still has the action-packed setup of a VoC theme, and I enjoyed it a lot. This time I got a hold of some of the characters since it has a similar setup to the others.

Can you guess what your card holds for your future?

I must say that there are times the cards won't side with you. And this round made me feel useless since every turn of our cards will inflict some poison and will make our health decrease over time. *ugh* can't trust these cards anymore~
